My Virginia Creeper is shedding all its leaves at the moment. When it is completely bare, does it need to be cut right back?

It all depends on its size and its position, if its a little out of control then prune it back to as far as you want to, it will always come back with a vengeance, we have one on our house front and next week it will be having its annual trim, that means coming down half way and trimming all the sides, by doing this it will reach the guttering by the time its finnished, however this year its got a little carried away and has found its way onto the roof, i always do this task round about now. julien

No. Just leave it alone, and it'll grow new leaves in the spring.
