Have you checked the undersides of the leaves for caterpillars? That's the most likely, or else pigeons.

You could get rid of the caterpillars either by hand or by spraying them - MUCH better by hand, as you don't really want chemicals on your food!

Then try bird scarers - e.g. some old CDs on a line. Or else cover them with netting.
