Hallo all. Has anybody built a hedgehog house?. I have, but I was wondering if the opening was big enough.
If you have made one, how big did you make the opening?. Thanks for any answers.

I think hedgehogs live under our shed as our little yorkie often looks under there nd barks. We have put a large pot with the side broken at the bottom of the garden in case they want to use it and we put out food and water but we get foxes in the garden and I'm afraid they might eat the hedgehogs.

They're not choosy, and any even-temperatured, leaf/debris- lined pile will do. Foxes won't usually eat hedgepigs, but badgers will (we rarely have hedgepigs, but we do have regular (chicken eating) badgers). Just a box aint big enough because however well lined it is, it's frost protection they seek, so the bigger the pile the better insulation it provides. Don't feed after end October/beginning of Nov. That'll steer them towards shelter when they realise there's no food about. We've rescued and raised several from a few days old to half grown. Phil J
