Sorry, I would say "no". I've tried blue salvias a few times and always lost them. Lovely, but tender. You could try taking cuttings and / or pot it up and keep it frost free.

Lancs111, if this is more purple than blue, then it could be Salvia coahuilensis which I have in a sheltered sunny corner of my garden - and the good news is that it came through last winter with no problem. My book on Salvias also says it's hardy. Good luck with it. :-)))

I have this one and leave it in the ground year after year. I did wonder after last winter..... but it's in full flower now and has been for weeks.

Yes, mine too, Izzy. :-)))

:-( I think Salvias just don't like me.... I lose them in the winter, even the culinary ones. Perhaps it's the salt spray on the wind that they don't like?

No idea, Beattie....I'm not far from the coast, and mine seem fine here.

Oh well, it's just they don't like me then :-(

That's like me and Alstros. They just don't like 'me'! :-(((

Slugs love alstros, in my experience. Perhaps the slugs are outwitting you.

Nope. Don't have slugs, just snails....funnily enough! It 'could' be them, I suppose....

8-o !! What!!! You .. don't .. have....... !!!
13 Oct, 2010
No - honestly! Lots of snails, hardly a slug ever. They're just as destructive, though, especially to plants near the stone walls, where they LURK......

We have thousands and thousands of both. I always assumed that where one found conditions to be favourable, the other would too. You learn something every day.

I'd agree with that, Beattie!

Do you know its name, Lancs111? It's hard to tell you the answer without knowing...the latin name off the label would be the most helpful, or a close-up of the flowers if you haven't got the label.
