I planted some climbing roses last year and although they have lovely clusters of flowers on the top their doesnt seem to be anything further down. I am a novice with roses, is their something i am doing wronge. They are growing up a trellis which I put on the fence and have fed them and even talked to them. At the moment they are about 5 ft. I thought they would be a mass of flowers all over so am abit disappointed.

Did you prune them and then tie in the new growth horizontally? This stimulates the rose to produce new shoots which then flower. Hope this helps with next year's flowers!
