I think it's a flowering Quince/Chaenomeles shrub. Quite thorny and likes full sun.

Agree. The fruit is edible by the way. Makes a super Jelly.

Hazeyboo, Thank you. I have seen them in other colours. I was presuming the one in my photo was orange but I can only find red ones!
