You'll have to remove them and take them to a frost-free place for the winter. Cut them back and keep them dry-ish. Repot in the spring, and start watering them again.

I just put my hanging baskets of fuchsias in my cool - unheated greenhouse - suitably trimmed back so they all fit in!! Haven't lost any yet - despite the rigors of our Scottish climate - even last winter!!!

Yes - why not, if this guest has a greenhouse, Alz. Good thinking. :-)

I do like alzheimer, all my hanging baskets with fuchsias are put in the polytunnel over winter, I stand the baskets on large pots under the tables and forget about them until at least late March.

Exactly so 2ndhand - and what is more - when they show signs of lifeand start sprouting lovely healthy shoots - I THEN take any cuttings - stick 'em in water and hey presto - new plants for new baskets for the new season..I'm not an Aberdonian for nothing....LOL

I am not sure you can unless they are hardy. But I have taken cuttings from mine and potted the cuttings up inside. I will plant them out in Spring.
