In a word - NO! Not in the UK. It is widely regarded as an annual in Britain - so you can try mulching - but frankly - it is easier to start afresh next year. Mind you - I am in a MUCH colder area than you - but I wouldn't bother frankly. The seed is relatively cheap - having said which my "Suzies " haven't opened an eye - black or otherwise this year - not one!! Plenty lovely foliage - but not a flower....and they were inside as usual ...LOL

i used to havethis plant and would die down in winter and reshoot from the base in spring,i live in afrosty area and found mulching with straw etc will help keep the crown warm
