Hmmm...I'd agree with that, when I looked just now and saw some categories that are non-gardening! It's somewhat important for a gardening site, isn't it!

Well - that's quite a question. I suspect that it's a homework or student one, but I'll try to help.
There are lots of different soils. The basic ones are loam, silt, clay, chalk, sand and peat. However, most gardens have a mixture, and the soils vary in their acidity/alkalinity and fertility, as well as the soil's ability to drain.
