mine are still in tight bud, not opening until mid november. So dont give up hope yet.

In South Africa, the season isn't right for the buds to open. As they grow they will produce tiny false buds, especially on the more compact varieties, but buds won't fully develop and open until the nights are getting longer in fall--April and May for you folks.
