I have just discovered some blackcurrent bushes in an overgrown part of my garden they are about 6foot high what shall i do to get them back into shape

I'm no expert on black currants but I'd prune the whole bush to 2/3rd its current height and cut back one third of the branches to the base to encourage new growth as black currants fruit best on one and two year old wood.
