should you cover bottle brush plants wth fleeces or other protective items to avoid them being killed by sharp frosts

If you live in the south or west of Britain, and have it planted in a southfacing, sheltered position with perhaps a fence or wall behind, it should be fine. Cold, exposed situations or areas probably would call for some protection.
