Should I plant my gargic and onion sets now ahead of some wet weather or wait for a dryer spell?

We are still waiting to plant our garlic, our soil is very wet at the moment, so we have covered it with plastic sheeting - now we are just waiting for the rain to stop.
Hope it dries soon, as last year we had snow at the end of November
