i would appreciate any tips on how to try to keep my 2 standard margarita trees thro the winter?? as they have done really well this year. also on how to keep my red star cordalynes as these are about 4 ' high and i lost my other last winter.

Lots of people lost Cordylines last year, but it was an unusually bad winter. Advice to protect cordylines through winter is to pull the foliage upright, then tie it in that position, cover the whole plant with fleece or similar during really cold spells.
When you say margarita, I'm sure you don't mean the drink, so will assume you mean marguerite standards - these really need to be removed somewhere frost free for the winter.
