I obtained a collection of Pinks very nice young plants
potted them on in a mixture soiless compost and grit,
few weeks later lower leaves went a straw colour and
spread upwards taking over the plant. The whole collection
is the same. Is there any hope

And when you say 'soil less compost' just what was it exactly?

The compost should have contained mellow loam, 10 parts, sharp sand, 4parts and fine rotted manure 2 parts. Also they have laid wet and cold, rule of thumb is not to pot on after July. They need plenty of dry air and need some heat in the greenhouse or frame. You can buy carnation compost, take off the yellow leaves and repotting now may save them.

It doesn't sound hopeful at all, I'm afraid, Sunup - where did you get the collection from? Were they well-rooted plants?
