Hydrangea

I have a collection of Hydrangeas and have recently purchased Hydrangea Hovaria Love You Kiss. This variety has been severely damaged by slugs. All the other varieties I have have not been affected. Is this particular variety prone to slug attack and any tips on prevention.

Maybe it was named by the slugs!!
