Hi, I am making holly and spruce wreaths, I already have the mossed wreaths and I know I need to soak them first, drain them off and away I go decorating them....My question is I have to put backing tape on as they are hanging on expensive doors how do I do this? If I wrap the tape all the way around then the foliage and flowers won't get the moisture from the soaked moss, also it will go mouldly....Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

To prevent damage to the door and to leave an air space, with florists wires make two holes in each of 4 corks and wire them on to the wreath.

I found you do need to protect the backs as rocking in the wind can ruin a painted front door. I think the corks are a good idea.

Presumably what you have is a straw filled wreath pad bound with moss. I don't see any way of using backing tape on this for the reasons you have given; front doors and the like should be fine with a wreath on them for a few weeks - lets face it they get everything nature can throw at them!
