What is the name of this plant please? I have 2 that seem to be growing well.
Thanks,
Pam

Looks to be helleborus foetidus the stinking hellebore

I agree, H. foetidus.

It only smells if you bruise the leaves. otherwise it's a great plant that really glows lime green in Jan/Feb.

If it wasn't dark I'd be running out and tearing some leaves!
Thank you. The leaf bud is so interesting. It's a bit swamped by the vigourous phygelius. Thank you fpr the IDs.

It won't mind being swamped, it likes some cool shade. It should seed itself around too, if you don't deadhead it. Otherwise the main plant only seems to last a couple of years.

Yes I agree short lived perennial but sets seed all over the place.

Hellebores. another favourite, I have dozens in a border & like them as much for their leaves as well as flowers.
Sticking my neck out I'm going to guess at this one possible having green flowers ?? but could well be light or dark purple, red or pink'ish ?? Self seeds & cross pollinates easily, hardy & garden worthy plants.
