How should I look after my pampas grass over the winter months?

Nosey's right, just leave it be, its hardy - in about March or early April, hack it right back to the centre, removing any plumes still left and clearing out the centre of the bush if there's any rubbish in it.

Oooh, I do hate that job, Bamboo!

Yes, it will be fine without help. Wear a pair of good gloves when you trim it back. Those grass blades are sharp!!

They sure are sharp, they cut your arms to ribbons, one reason we got rid of ours!!

if you have room burn it down .

I tool a petrol hedgecutter to mine...that taught it...it came back beautifully...but as Nosey says 'burn it'. As I understand it...that is often what happens to it in its native land and benefits from it....famous last words!

Yep burning works well - but depends where you live, I'd be breaking the law burning like that here in London...

Wouldn't want to burn it if it's close up the the house either but it does like it.

If there's one thing in the garden that doesn't need protecting, it's the pampas. It's indestructible isn't it?
