I know enough to recognise this as Euonymus and a dwarf species, but can anyone help me to identify the variety?
Many thanks if you can.

Emerald Gaiety was my first thought too ... I have this at about 8" high ... very slow growing.

mine must be 4 foot tall -- and wide--but must have been planted 20 years ago on rich soil, I love it and the 'emerald & gold' they are always bright & cheerful and bonehardy in my exposed garden

It is 'Emerald Gaiety' Worthy

Looks like general agreement - nice. The reason I thought it might be dwarf is that a lot of the new growth tends to be slender and arches down towards the ground where I assume it would eventually take root. Is that normal?

they can get a bit leggy especially if they're in a shady spot but a light pruning in spring will keep them tidy and the prunings will 'strike' quite easily as cuttings

Thanks everyone, I'm obliged. Bernard

Doesn't usually root at the tips, Bernard, but they do spread out before getting taller - interestingly, planted against a fence, it'll 'climb' the fence - its not really climbing, but the growth leans against the fence and grows upwards.
