other Maryland flower

sorry, thought both pics would show up in my first question, but here is my second unknown flower in a Maryland garden. Can you help me identify with care needs please?

Looks like Crape Myrtle.

This is crape myrtle. It's hardy to zone 6 and tends to prefer well-drained soils (no clay if you can help it). They can get quite large (up to 10' or more I've seen them) and they are very lovely.
