The local woods are larch planted, and under them are euphorbia amygdaloides (wood spurge), primroses, wild garlic (ramsons), and pignut. As Seaburngirl says, it's a lean old spot, but euphorbia amygdaloides, and the variety robbiae (invasive if it likes you), daphne laureola, (spurge laurel), butchers' broom, bluebells, and some varieties of the plants above are worth giving a go. One very attractive feature of those woods is the amount of fungus in variety that grows there in the autumn, on the fallen and rotting wood. Worthy

not a lot really as they take a lot of water and nutrients.. however it is deciduous so autumn/spring bulbs will thrive.
