Yes, I think you may be thinking of Cordylines too. A yucca wouldn't really be a 'tree'. My yucca is fine and it's only a baby, but the cordylines around here are mostly dead. Funny though, just down the road from me two neighbouring cottages, each have two big cordys. One house, both dead, the other house both still alive...both facing the same direction! Amazing isn't it? The dead ones are on a corner so a little less protected...amazing how much difference this has made!

There are tree-like Yuccas, but either they aren't very hardy, or they can't take wet climates. More likely to be Cordylines.

Possibly, can't really say - Yuccas here in London appear largely unaffected. Unless you really mean Cordyline and have the names mixed up - plenty of those dying or damaged all over the country, including London. And that is a direct result of the severe weather before Christmas, particularly on top of damage from the previous year.
