three of my privit hedge bushes have developed fruit and all the leaves fallen off, we have watering system in due to the well established oak tree in close situ. Is there anything I can do to save these bushes as the hedge is 4ft high and pretty bushey?

It's certainly not the right time of year for privet to develop fruit Spider. Are you sure they're not just the remnant s of last autumns fruit which have become visible now the leaves have dropped. Can you describe these "fruits"

Don't worry abvout the leaf drop. It's been a hard winter and they should get new leaves as soon as spring is srung!

Not the right time for anything to develop fruits - privet can produce small black berries in autumn, so if that's what they look like, you're probably only noticing them because the leaves have dropped, as Anchorman says. And most likely the leaves dropped because of the severe winter, agreed, so new growth should appear in the next month or so.
