Now it's April and still no sign of growth but where the oozing was it has now started to smell really foul, does this mean it has started to rot on the inside?
Hi My Cordyline has really suffered this winter I am left with stumps no leaves whatsoever they all blew off in the gales we had. Recently I have noticed a damp patch that is working its was around the base and also what looks like spit balls. This did start to dry but have had rain recently and damp patch is back again with even more spit balls. Now taking into account the rain blows up our street I would of thought the damp patch would of been on that side, but it is on the opposite side. Will my cordyline grow any more leaves and what is this damp patch? Cordyline is now 26years old.

I'm afraid your Cordyline has been damaged by the severe winter weather before Christmas. Do nothing now, just wait and see what happens - if, by April, the rotting and oozing has worsened, then cut it down beyond that point, to the ground if necessary. If it doesn't get worse, then just wait - it may shoot halfway up the trunks, or from the base. If you have to cut it down, it may yet regrow from the roots beneath the soil.
