Is this Clematis freckles?
This is the best photo I have managed for this evergreen early flowering one. I think GoYers have helped me narrow it down to C chirrosa [spelling wrong I know but I'm being a bit lazy :)]

Now that does ring a vague bell in my rapidly addling brain :)
as for spelling its an Andre Previn attempt. all the right letters but not necessarily in the right place.
