please can anyone tell me is my pampas grass dead, its all died off, brownish, no green, is this normal and will it shoot new growth, thanx for any info

thankyou mr MB. i will leave it and hope for the best, it was a new one last summer so hope its not lost, iv lost all my new plants from last year, so hardy ones from now on. hope your both well and enjoying getting your garden and veg going again ;o)

i would burn it down in spring IF you can as that will help as its part of a lot of grasses life cycles and puts good nutriants back into the soil.

Ive got a pampas grass , if you can download a picture i can tell you if its dead or not

thanx leigh, its in a pot though and only young, but i have heard that before with more established ones, so will wait till spring and see what its like then ;o)

i had mine in a pot to start with but once i planted it out in the ground , it grew into a nice size if you go through my pictures you will find it next to my greenhouse

Well, you know, bearing up as they say, Sanbaz, thanks for asking. The only thing that troubles me slightly is whether the compost in the pot froze for any length of time - longer than about 9 days and it will have killed the plant. Wait and see if it shows any green growth by April.

Whilst we don't grow Pampas Grass, San, we do have some grasses and they all look dead at the moment. They usually do at this time of the year so I expect that they will come back to life soon.
