I have a lot of grey ash from our open fire, produced from coal and logs, can this be put on the garden as I have been told that it is a good fertilizer.thank you

Only fresh wood ash should be used on your garden, it can contain 4% Potash. Other fire ash can be used on a woodland path to supress weeds.

You should only use pure wood ash on the garden. The coal ash contains sulphur and heavy metals which are harmful to plants.
