I have a lot of grey ash from our open fire,produced from coal and logs,can this be put on the garden as I have been told that it is a good fertilizer.thank you

You should only use pure wood ash on the garden. The coal ash contains sulphur and heavy metals which are harmful to plants.

Only fresh wood ash should be used on your garden, it can contain 4% Potash. Other fire ash can be used on a woodland path to supress weeds.
