Is it possible to move an established climbing hydrangea, about 7 years old? It was on the side of a shed which has had to be moved, shrub is not damaged but I don't know the best way to protect it in the new exposed position.

Or peg down a shoot into a pot to layer it and get a new plant to put elsewhere.

Thank you to Spritzhenry and to Volunteer. I will take on board both suggestions, and will erect the free-standing trellis and layer a new shoot. Hopefully will then have a healthy shrub and a new plant too.

I'd say that would be a BIG risk - in fact I can't see it surviving, I'm sorry to say. Could you erect a free-standing trellis to support it, do you think?
