whilst clearing some large plant tubs, I found some had hard boiled eggs buried in the soil. Can you please tell me why this has been done.

this can be done by animals that bury stolen eggs.
are they bird eggs or reptile eggs? birds have a hard shell, reptiles have a leathery one.
crocs etc lay eggs in heaps of rotting vegetation so as the heat from the rotting vegetation incubates them.
