Good Evening
I'm not really a gardener but i'm really gutted my 25 year old cordalayne is my pride and joy it has shed nearly all its leaves with the bad weather,this tree sticks 4ft above the gutter to the house,i have read the other comments on previous questions asked but will this grow from the top if i leave it the trunk is probably 2ft thick with no shoots please help !! sorry about the spelling Thankyou.

Wait till June if you can bear to - it may shoot from the base or up the trunk, and when it does, as Anchorman says, cut back to that point. This assumes it's not soggy or rotting on the trunk anywhere - if it is, cut it down past any soggy areas in April, which gives the plant the best chance of recovery than if you do it now.

Many Cordylines have been killed this year. Some may regrow from near the top.( chop off any dead stuff above any new growth if you see new growth .
Many more may grow again from the base if you chop it right down
