I have recently moved to a new house and i discovered i have strawberry plants in my garden. How do i know how long they have been there and will they still produce fruit? At the moment there aren't any flowers just alot of leaves.

I would be tempted, as I imagine autumn is approaching in NZ, that if the plants have made runners digging the runners up and planting them in a seperate pot / place and seeing next year if they flower and fruit. As I think you may stand a better chance of getting something off younger and more vigorous plants.

By now in NZ I would have expected your strawberries to have flowered and fruited. Only waiting until next spring/summer will tell you if they are still good fruiting plants.
