Hello
I have just been given a Syringa Vulgaris Katherine Havemeyer and I was wondering whether it is possible to plant it in a pot and if so how large should the pot be?
Thanks

I agree with Bamboo [he is always right anyway as is so knowledgable] but we used to have one in our garden and it was very large, way too much to be planted in a pot.

Well thanks, Freeasabird - except I'm not always right, (thank heavens, fate worse than death that'd be), just most of the time, lol! And I'm female... and by the way, don't give up on your vine yet, its still a bit early for those to be sprouting yet.

This plant won't make a suitable pot subject, I'm afraid - its grows into a small tree/large shrub. There is a smaller variety of Syringa available, which only reaches about 4 feet - the flowers look a bit different from ordinary lilac, but it will do well in a pot.
