I am about to plant 2 Dapne Odura plants and would like nto ask if there is a patricular type of soil they like, or can I just plant out normally and are they suitable to grow in large patio containers.

First let me say, congrats, U R going to adore these beautiful plants, I have 3 and planted them in Acidic soil, BUT in protected spots from the wind. They like to be pruned after flowering so necessary to maintain it's lovely shape, or else it will collapse under its own weight, and look untidy. I like it shaped so not to get snow damage.
Also the grow very fast & easy to propagate in the Fall. I just take cuttings stick it in a pot, forget about it over Winter & in Spring, new babies.
