I have a very long laurel hedge of some years standing. It is flourishing except for a metre or so in the middle which has suddently died. The rest of the bushes seem unaffected and all have the same aspect. Any ideas, please?

Not much to go on, Magibaker - are there any dead tree stumps or similar nearby, particularly to the dead area? Does that part of the hedge get more cold wind than any of the other parts? Any symptoms present before the death? Have you checked the stems from top to bottom for signs of infection, including on the plants immediately adjacent to the dead ones?
