Could anyone tell me the best time for planting Daffodil and similar bulbs?

I'd add that narcissus prefer to be in the ground by end of August, but tulips can wait till November to be planted.

As soon as you can get them. If you are buying from the garden centers then this is usually late August, as has been said.
