I have recently bought a house which has a box hedge of around 1.5 metres. I would like to add some security in the way of a fence behind the hedge. Would a close panel wooden fence, or iron railings be better, as I do not want to damage the hedge?
Thank you.

Keep in mind that a solid fence will cause the side of the hedge that is against the fence to turn bald, from too much shade. Normally not a problem, because it's never seen, but some people do panic!

I think the most damage will come from the workmen doing the actual job rather than the type of fencing.
As to which type - it's going to depend on whether you want privacy because the iron railings are going to allow in prying eyes whereas a wooden panel won't.
