I have three standard fuchsias in pots, they look dead. Could they survive the heavy snow in Dec 2010 ? How would you know ?

See answers to your previous question on this subject, but now you've said they were in pots, they'll be goners - they're sensitive to frost through the roots, even hardy ones, so even they only survive in the ground in a hard winter. You can keep them for another month or so to see if any growth appears if you like.

were they hardy fuchsias? if they were not then you should of bought them indoors.
Try the thumb nail test and if the branch is not green then you have lost them
