To my distress our beautiful 10 ft high Crinodendron has succumbed to this winter's ice & snow. Not a single sign of life, just shrivelled brown leaves. Can I cut it back to restore growth?? I live in Cumbria, so no wonderful warm spring coming...but it's not that bad. other things flourish!

Yes cut it back until you find green wood, even if this means cutting it to the ground - it will regrow.

I should imagine that you have lost it Tws. I lost mine and have taken it out. You may well be lucky though, you cannot lose by pruning it after all.

It may well regenerate from the roots, even if all the top growth has been killed. It may take until the end of July to show signs of life so don't give up on it too quickly
