hi will spider plants survive outside in a window box all year round?

Depends where you live and what sort of winter we have. I had some surplus spider plants and popped them into a flower bed under some roses one year. They lasted several years before the winter before last killed them off.

i have planted spider plants in my hanging baskets just in the summer and they are fine but not all year round,they are house plants as moongrower says.

Houseplants they are, but tough with it. I left a pot outside the winter before last and the roots were still viable although the tops had died back. Worth leaving a plant outside just to see - if you root lots of babies in the autumn you've nothing to lose.
