If it is actually a Yucca--leaves more than 3 cm wide--then it should come back fairly easily, though it did freeze hard enough to kill a few of the more tender species, last winter. If it is a Cordyline--leaves less than 2 cm wide--then stump sprouting will be slower and more problematical. In either case, watch for rotting on the stems--dark, soft spots, and/or oozing gunk--and cut the stems off just below that. Feed lightly, to stimulate new growth, and be prepared to wait well into summer, before new sprouts show. Once they sprout, just cut off anything that isn't sprouting. Often, you will wind up with a multiple trunk specimen with massive character!
