Can I plant a star jasmine in compost and a container around 1.5ft tall and around 15'' dia? I bought my star jasmine last week and it is in a small nursery pot at the moment,it is a decent size [about 2ft tall] was wondering if anyone can give advise whether I can plant it in compost and if it should be placed in a shady or partialy sunny spot as I don't have ground to grow it in.
Thanks

Prefers sun, but will tolerate some shade. The container size you mention will be okay, but best results will be achieved if you pot it on next year into something that's at least 2 feet deep or more, and 12 inches wide as a minimum. Best compost would be John Innes No. 2, but its quite heavy, so suggest you mix it with a good multi purpose potting compost.
