Thank you again Owdboggy!....never had one of these before...I did notice an old yellow looking fruit on the ground last year....but did not know where it had come from :-) I will google it...probably just a flowering variety...not edible is it? I don't want to be poisoned!

The fruits are inedible when raw but you can make jam from the fruits and there are lots of recipes on the internet for Quince jam.

The fruits are very definitely usable. I had Quince marmalade on my toast this morning. Indeed Marmalade was originally made from Quince, only the Victorians changed it to Oranges because they are easier to process.

OMG, Quince jelly Sunrose with varkvleis, girl. We use to eat them in the OFS, but very astringent. Gorgeous blossoms. Waiting for mine. I especially planted a quince tree to make Jelly. Your, I do not know if it is eadible.

And that is a Chaenomeles japonica, aka Quince. Not however the Cydonia which is also Quince.
