Over the winter months I put black buckets lined with garden fleece over my rhubarb to keep it snug over winter. Come spring when it starts to grow I get some of the lovliest pink rhubarb I'v ever tasted, can I carry on this practice right through the year ?

Lovely tender rhubarb is a spring treat. We have to enjoy it in its more mature form the rest of the summer. Shame, but there it is.

I wouldn't advise it the crown, root, of the rhubarb needs to be fed by the leaves and to do this they need light and moisture. If you keep covered you are likely to get a very poor crop next year.
