I have also just bought a fallopia multiflora hypoleuca to grow against a long 8m fence (2m high). Will I need to provide support or is it self clinging?

Thanks
Tony

Fallopia multiflora is listed as a variety of F. baldshuanica, which is a vigorous twining vine, not a clinger. Since it tends to die to the ground every winter, I would provide a string net for it to climb on, and roll that up and discard it every winter.

The plant label says this is an evergreen, so I hope mine does not die back every year.

Thanks for the advice, I will provide a trellis.

Evergreen down to -6.7ยบ C, deciduous to herbaceous below that.

How do I say thanks?
