I live in Lancashire and never seem to be able go grow radishes, I have just tried some in a container in the greenhouse and they have produced leaves but nothing else, in the garden they always bolt, can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong.

Ample water, too. A week of drought can leave them with stringy roots, and flower spikes shooting up. Somewhat rarer, lack of potash can also stunt the roots.

You need a fine. sandy tilth to grow them well... No compost and a very, very well raked soil.
