Can anyone tell me what I could plant in our garden at the bottom. It is on a slope and there is an area down in the corner where we cut a large tree down. There are other trees in the same area which could be the reason nothing seems to grow. We have tried long grasses without success and this one area looks so bare. Any info would be much appreciated.

Dry shade is one of the most difficult situations to find plants to fill, but it is possible. There are suggestions here - http://www.growsonyou.com/gardening/dry-soil-plants

I've used Euphorbia amygdaloides, Cyclamen hederifolium, Lamium galeobdolon, ivy species (some can be quite decorative), bluebells. It may be damp enough for ferns to grow.

How do I say thanks?
