Last year I had a good lawn but despite using an Autumn weed and feed, this year it is full of meadow grass - wide leaved and flat spreading so very hard to mow.Is there a weed killer that removes this but not the finer leaved lawn grass?

No - they either kill grass or they don't. However, meadow grass in lawns isn't really a problem so long as you mow it regularly - you could also try scraping up the longer growths with a lawn rake and then running the mower over them. Use of a hover or rotary mower will be more effective against this type of grass than a cylinder type mower.
