How can I get rid of the roots left by the ivy which was growing up our wall?
Also, we have thousands of tadpoles in our pond. In past years, the fish have eaten all the frogspawn, but this Winter the fish all disappeared. We suspect our visiting heron! Help, we don't want masses of frogs
all over the lawn!

Sorry, I don't think there is a way of getting rid of the rootlets left by the ivy. It might be possible to scrape them off but only by damaging the surface of the wall. You're stuck with them - that's how ivy is.
Re your tadpoles, not many of them will grow into froghood, don't worry.
