I am moving, I have a yellow rose (don't know name) that has lots of buds and produces nice open roses. I would like to take this with me but would rather leave it than kill it off. It has been planted there for 10 years or so.

You will need to let prospective purchasers know that you intend to take this plant as anything in the ground is normally included in the sale. It would have to be specifically excluded from the sale for you to remove it legally.

Now is not the ideal time to move a rose but if you dig it up and take as much root as possible and water it well it should survive.
I would be inclined to cut off all the flowers and most of the foliage before doing so as water is lost through foliage. It sounds a drastic think to do but it will give the plant the best chance of survival
